Finding Your Niche Keywords

What are "niche" keywords.  When we talk about niche, we are talking about long-tail keywords that are more descriptive versions of your generic keywords.  Usually this actually extends into a phrase.  Finding niche keywords is simply the process of breaking down your keyword into a larger list of related keywords and phrases, for example;

Lets assume you want to work on the keyword "social advertising".  This can be extended into a complete list of niche keywords and phrases e.g.

social advertising
social media advertising
social advertising campaigns
social networking advertising
social network advertising
advertising on social networks
advertising social networks
advertising on social networking
advertising in social networks
advertising on social network
advertising on social network sites

By working on these less common, yet more targeted, phrases you can generate much more accurate results ultimately driving more traffic to your content.

How to apply niche keywords with Pay Per Click Advertising

If you are working with software such as Adsense or AdCenter you should probably setup some new campaigns to monitor your niche keyword list.  Start with a list of ten or so phrases and encapsulate your keywords in speechmarks to force the pay per click software to exact match on your phrase.  You will see that your cost per click is lower than usual and your estimated traffic is also likely to be lower.  By setting up many smaller, moe targetted campaigns your overall traffic is greatly increased.

Working with niche keywords in your content

If you are building websites or creating content for search engine optimisation you will already have your subject matter and quite likely some existing content.  Generate your niche keyword lists using the same method as described above, and you simply need to ensure your niche keywords and phrases and included within your text.  In the case of websites, you can also include your niche keywords within your page titles, headers and links to inmprove the density of the keywords within your pages.
